Letter from the Directress (July 1, 2020)

July 1, 2020

Dear Parents,

I pray that you are well upon receipt of this mail.

On February 24, 2020, after having obtained the unanimous approval of the parents held during the parents and teachers’ assembly on January 19, 2020, Mater Carmeli School submitted to DepEd our application  for  increase  in  tuition  and  other  fees  for  SY  2020-2021.  However,  the  economic  strain brought about by the pandemic CoViD-19 compelled us to withdraw the said application in solidarity with our parents, many of whom are affected economically by the said global disease.

Furthermore, on May 18, 2020 the administration underwent a thorough review of school fees and  discerned  which   of  these   fees  might  be  suspended,  decreased,  retained  and  increased,  in consideration  of  the  delivery  of  learning  in  the  New  Normal.  Moreover,  the  school  decided  to withdraw memoranda of agreement initially entered into by the institution with book companies, taking  upon  itself  together  with  its  teaching  force,  the  task  of  curriculum  planning  and  design  not dependent on textbooks. Below is the result of the said review.

Please take note of the total amount decreased from each grade level for SY 2020-2021 as a result of the review done.

We  have  retained  some  fees  particularly  under  tuition  and  miscellaneous  fees  for  the procurement  and upgrading of  facilities and  equipment to  enhance online  learning,  subscription  to learning  management  system  (Schoology),  upgrading  sanitation  and  wellness  services,  and  other learner development facilities. When our Carmelians are back to school, we need to be fully prepared to handle and take care of their physical, mental, social, emotional, spiritual well-being; hence, the retention  of  other  fees.  We  assure  you,  though,  that  when  the  pandemic  lingers,  God  forbid, unused fees will be refunded as had been done in the previous school year.

Accept our sincere appreciation for your trust and confidence in the Carmelian education.
